Week 4

On Sunday - Fathers Day, Matt scheduled himself to work - bummer, but we gave him is gifts (a gift card from me and a copy of Dr. Suess's "The Places You'll Go! From Charlotte). Grandma and Grandfather came over as well as Tati Juliette and Tatti Nin. i think I got that right?!?!? this little girl has us all wrapped around her little finger. we all just sat a and stared! It was a nice day - we had lunch and passed CJ around! The Spaniards send Charlotte a beautifull pink dress so it gave us an opportunity to dress her up and take pictures. what luck! she is beautiful!

Magical - absolutely magical! The pictures came thursday yesterday and they blew me away. we'll post some as soon as we get them scanned! My mom and I spent 2 hours going through the photos yesterday and I can't believe how great they turned out. Ana (the photog) gave me the proofs and I brought them home to show matt and to let his mom and dad take a look. He cried when he saw how beautiful she was. It was a picture of Charlotte and me and it was very "The Madonna and Child". I see that in the photos where we are looking at her, there is this enraptured stare that we all have. she has a hold on us all! When I came home there was a present waiting for CJ. Auntie Maryanne send some homemade goodies! They are beautiful. A coat and hat, booties and a blanket all hand knit. I am amazed by people who can do that! these would have cost us hundreds of dollars at a boutique. we are lucky people to have such wonderful friends.

Week 3.5

We just got back from the photographers and it went so well. We had a great time - well, I had a great time, I'm not so sure about everyone else. I know it may seem a bit excessive to some, I am really excited about these pictures. there is something about a photograph that is taken well that can capture something that is magical. I can't wait until next week when we can see how they came out.

Week 3

We visited the pediatricial today. Dr. Marino. She says that CJ is doing well. She has gained her weight back - 7lbs 11oz and she had grown to 20.5 inches. Her belly button is doing well, the umbilical cord fell of last week and it has turned into an adorable innie! So much for week 3 news... We'll keep you posted.

Week 2

We started this week off with a get together. The grandparents came over on Friday, we had lunch and every one commented on what a beautiful happy daughter we have. I love this gig. Saturday, we had the rest of the family and friends come by - Charlotte charmed them call. She is quite the social butterful. Ok not really, she pretty much just poops and eats and poops some more and all the while she sleeps.
We feel comfortable taking her out places - We went to the mall, and out to dinner. This week matt will go back to work, so I'm trying to make as much together time as possible. It has been so wonderful to have him here with me and the baby. I do feel a little envious though - he gets to go back to work and talk to everyone about how wonderful our little girl is.
She is focusing her eyes, not really on people, but she can control them and they don't spin about like mad eye moody! she also gives a little smile now and again. Maybe it's gas, maybe she is remembers, "this one time in utero...".
She is giving us 4 hour streches of sleep at night, and staying awake quite a bit more during the day. It is difficult to tear myself away from her to do any real work.
being charlotte's mommy is magical to say the least.

Week 1

I'm not going to promise a weekly update, because here I am starting 2 weeks late and trying to play catch up, but I will try my best to get in here as much as possible... post a little somin' somin' and show off some pictures.

We took the first week off-from everything. We decided to make this our time and I'm glad we did. We did have a few visitors - neighbors and grandparents (who could blame them though, just look at her). we were able to nap when we wanted and just sit and stare when we wanted. Matt went grocery shopping and made crab legs and steak for our first dinner at home.

She's a good baby - this will be reiterated in the coming blog entitled Week 2, but I had to get it in here too. She doesn't cry much, this week that has been my job. A little touch of the baby blues... we talk more about this in a minutes. She is eating well. We went to our first well baby check up and she has lost a little bit of weight, but that is normal - they say. She is down to 7lbs. 1.5 oz but the assure me she should be back up to her birth weight by her first dr. visit. that is how they tell how well she's eating. So we'll see.

We love to just sit and stare at her - we love the digital camera, because we can take hundres of pictures of her and just download them to the computer.

At this point she feeds every 2 hours of so...24 hours a day, it gets better.
